Raw Deal

A couple of weeks ago, in a thread entitled "How Long Is Too Long?", I wrote about a research conducted to determine what people believed was the "desirable" amount of time to have sex.

That thread attracted some interesting comments from some of my fans. Amongst others, delurk said that his woman friend, who was there beside him, answered "anything more than 7" when asked "how long is too long?"

I replied that some women lost interest in sex because they always end up disappointed—that the act almost always end far too early before they're even close to reaching orgasm!

Then another fan, Teo, joined in the "discussion" and took advantage of the fact that no unit of measurement was used when quoting the answer "anything more than 7". It turned out that he interpreted "7" as referring to 7 inches rather than 7 minutes. But let's forgive Teo, folks, because treasure hunters are accustomed to thinking out of the box, you see.

Well, I still maintain that some women lost interest because of difficulties in achieving orgasm. But I did not expect that only 25% of Malaysian women "almost always achieving orgasm". In fact, I think there is something seriously wrong with the study conducted by Dr Mohd Ismail Mohd Tambi. Besides, I feel that the 1,026 Malaysians who participated in the study represented an extremely small percentage of the entire population.

What's even more surprising to me is that only 62% of Malaysian men "almost always reach climax during sex". If I were one of those who participated in the survey, I would have distorted the figure by a substantial margin, because I'd reckon my percentage closer to—if not exactly—100%!

Now I can't say for certain if my spouse actually fake orgasm like some women do, but she sure seem like achieving it much more than that miserable 25%! And if that is indeed her percentage, then that should give me more reasons to improve on the frequency! (smile)

you still don't got it!! the original comment was actually meant to be 7 inches. 7' = 7 feet, 7" = 7inches

the study says 25% of women almost always achieving orgasm.

not the frequency of each woman achieving it.

By jove, delurk! I think I get you now!... hehehe. I think the reason I misunderstood you was because I read your comment of "anything more than 7" quoting the whole sentence beginning with "anything" and ending with "7". I didn't realise that the (") after the figure "7" was referring to inches!... hahaha! OK, OK, now it is crystal clear!

Regarding the frequency, that's exactly what I'm trying to imply. I fully understood that the study says "almost always achieving orgasm". If I get it right, I think it means that out of 100 intercourses, orgasm is achieved 25 times. Therefore, shouldn't it follow that if the frequency if increased to say 200 times, orgasm will also be increased, proportionately to 50 times?

Hmm... on second thought, delurk, perhaps you are right after all. When I think of it again, it still doesn't add up. Indeed it's not the frequency of each woman achieving it, just you have correctly pointed out!... wow, you are such an expert in this subject, aren't you?... hahaha!

not 100 times but 100 women. out of 100 women, 25 always achieved it. so for this 25 it's almost 100% It's comparing people not no. of times.

based on that I think 25% is correct.

p/s love the recent comment widget at the side bar. keep the improvement coming!

Yes, delurk, I see it now... 100 women, not 100 times. And I pray to the good Lord that my wife is within the minority of the 25 women! I can't bear the thought that I'm the only one having all the fun!... hahaha!

Regarding that "Recent Comments" on the sidebar, I must thank Julie for that. It took me about 6 months to finally put the "Recent Comments" there. I've asked so many people for help. Some didn't even bother to reply, some did but only managed to confuse me more. And then at last, tada!!... I now have a "Recent Comment" on my sidebar.

Thanks Julie dear, the next time uncle Cornelius goes over to KL, I'm buying lunch! And if we can get within the top 20 in the Kiwanis, I'm buying for the other 2 in our team too! But if we get top 10, we should force renroc to buy!... hehehe. Where's that lunch we're planning to have again?... is it Bidor? Oh how I have to rack my brain to remember all these places with complicated names!

corny, if you wanna know, just ask ur wife.

and u really believe surveys done? especially in Malaysia?

Cornelius said...

CK, I do ask her; all the time! That's why I said, "unless if she's faking it". But not about 7 inches though... hahaha!

No, I don't believe in the accuracy of a survey conducted where only 1,026 people participated to represent the entire population of Malaysia. Besides, our women are never really truthful when it comes to sex anyway—at least not truthful to strangers. In our culture, women are perceived not to regard sex as something important to them. That mentality is instilled in them from when they are kids. And so that's how they "should" behave, even if it's not the truth. So whatever information we get from them should be discounted.

"Besides, our women are never really truthful when it comes to sex anyway"

so what makes you think yr wife is giving you accurate feedback. perhaps she just wants to "jaga your muka"

the survey was conducted by Durex not by the Doctor. Even if you don't believe the Malaysia's figures, surveys are about establishing trends. look at the figures from other countries. The highest at 66% not even any where near 100%

the doctor also said "orgasms are not the be all and end all of sex..."

delurk, I can't be sure. Read my closing paragraph; I said:

"Now I can't say for certain if my spouse actually fake orgasm like some women do..."

Maybe she is faking it; but I hope she isn't! Perhaps if I put a gun to her head, maybe she will tell me the truth. Nah... I think it is more likely that if she finally gets to read all this, she will go on strike and I will suffer for weeks to come!... hehehe.

You have a point there about the survey. Indeed it was conducted by Durex. I will agree with you on the survey for the purpose of "establishing trends". Beyond that, I am not very sure if the statistics mean anything. Perhaps it is some indication on how much more truthful women from other countries are when it comes to sex, but there is just no way I can prove it!

And yes, I can believe that orgasm is not everything. It amounts to a hell lot though!

I have just received an email from a lady friend. She commented on this very discussion we're having here, and then said that she wouldn't mind if I published her comment here—anonymously. She said:

"If the length of time it took to establish the exact facts of this subject matter is anything to go by, is it really any wonder the statistics read the way they do?? Perhaps you've found the root of the problem after all... ;)"

Well, my friend, you can actually post your comment here yourself anonymously too if you like. Feel free to engage in our little discussions.

You must forgive us for taking so long to tune in to each others' wavelengths. We are all treasure hunters, you see. Treasure hunters' minds work differently. We are so used to all those years of cryptic thinking that we sometimes have the tendency to complicate even the simplest and most straightforward sentence. It is truly a curse!

That is why there are times when we, the so called regular hunters, can be beaten by those very new hunters when we're faced with a very straightforward treasure hunt question! We somehow refuse to accept the straightforward answers!

Corny....in engineering or should I simplify measurement units, the symbol " is inch and the symbol ' is feet. So 7" is 7 inches lah my fren.... you think too deep. i m not thinking out of the box but rather got to the point straight away.

Anyway, 7 mins is rather too short to enjoy the session.....i would suggest 15 mins warming up(u know wat i meant)....3 mins per position, so make it 4-5 positions.... 12-15 mins would be the the ideal workout!! haha 5" to 6" length would be ok for Asian, 7" I guess would a bit too much to handle. Anyway, it's not me to gauge this length issue...should ask the opp sex rather...

Teo, what a detailed analysis!... HAHAHA!

Yes, I understand delurk's comment crystal clear now. But it's not really my fault that I didn't understand him in the beginning! I'm aware of the difference between the " (in) and ' (ft), but when he commented on my post, he typed it as: "anything more than 7"

Looking at the " after the figure 7, it is more accurate to treat that " as the "unquote", which is the ending counterpart for the "quote" that comes before the word anything. Maybe if he had typed it like this:

"anything more than 7""

then it has a different meaning. Do you see my point now? A small detail but with a different meaning because of that extra " after the figure 7. The first " after 7 is meant for inches; and the second " after 7 is for closing the quote.

The other way which he could have written it is like this:

anything more than 7"

In this case, there is no "open quote" before the word anything. Therefore that " after the figure 7 must be referring to inches. However, since delurk was quoting the answer by his lady friend, it wouldn't have been accurate to simply type:

anything more than 7"

That whole answer must be written in open/close quotes because, after all, it's a quote of somebody's sentence. Therefore, I think the best is still:

"anything more than 7""

Amazing the confusion a single " can cause, huh?

By the way, Teo, 3 minutes per position, huh? Perhaps you've been watching Dr Chua's tape, haven't you? Just curious, would you need a digital timer for those 3-minute block?... HAHAHA! You forgot to include the requirement of a laptop too!
