Puppy Love

I know this is not easy to believe, but I honestly don't spend like 23 hours a day on Facebook. Between work, running, cycling, swimming, blogging and reading, you can imagine how little time I have left for Facebooking. But sometimes, I allow myself a bit of time checking out what's happening on Facebook.

More than 25 years ago, I had a crush on a pretty girl—I don't know if that's what people would describe as "puppy love". I can still remember how I just wished that I had her as my girlfriend. But I had no guts to tell her how I felt. Maybe I was afraid that I'd be rejected; that would surely have been painful to accept!

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that most women would find me too boring—I have no style; I don't even smoke and drink; and I don't go to the disco where the sound is as loud as the engine room in a power plant.

Many years have since elapsed since the last time I saw her, and I have almost forgotten all about her. Then as fate would have it, while checking out the Facebook search engine, I stumbled upon the name which I haven't heard of or seen for such a long time. I clicked on the profile photo, and true enough, it was the same girl from over 25 years ago!

I was like, "Whoa! What the hell happened to that slender sexy body? Where did that extra 100 pounds of fats come from?"

But actually, I think it would have been different if I had been brave enough to approach her, and we became a couple all those years ago. Love is like that—if it works, you just fall increasingly deeper in love over the years to the extent that the physical changes would become almost unnoticeable!

But still, what the hell happened?...

Haha!... KD, unfortunately, the starting point is always the attraction; and attraction is always on beautiful things. That is the reality! Of course I'm aware of isolated cases where one can fall in love with someone without hands and legs; or without an eye or distorted nose. But that is very rare.

Anyway... I did say in my post above that:

"Love is like that - if it works, you just fall increasingly deeper in love over the years to the extent that the physical changes would become almost unnoticeable!"

So usually, one is attracted to someone who at least looks pleasant; gets to know him or her, falls in love and so on and so forth.

I'm not disputing genes. Nobody remains beautiful forever. Physical changes will happen one way or another. If it's love, those changes won't matter much. Well, unless if you are Bung Moktar, of course.

Oh yes, I'd like to add that as far as being fat is concerned, in most cases it's one's own doing, not so much because of genes.

I know that some people can eat as much as they like but can't seem to gain weight. Whereas others can gain weight seemingly by just looking at food. That's genes, I guess. In a way I have the fat genes too, because almost everyone in my family is overweight.

I think it's a matter of discipline. Eat moderately (there is no need to go on a hunger strike). Do a bit of exercise. It's so very easy to blame it all on genes, really.

Tekko,

This may be hard to believe, but it's quite possible that she's not on FB. Until very recently, many people encouraged me to do FB, but I refused. I happen to know that some of my ex-classmates are not on FB up to now.

The other possible reason is that she's using a different name on FB.
